秋霞电影网邓水喜于20世纪30年代出生于广东农村。当她出生时，干旱的土地迎来了阵雨。她的父母用这个名字来象征永远充满活力和希望。新中国诞生后，邓水喜长大成人，嫁给了儿时玩伴高满堂，生下了大儿子高兴、二女儿高桂和小女儿高峰。为了谋生，高满堂独自来到香港，几年没有收到他的来信。邓水喜担心她的丈夫，带着孩子来到香港找她的丈夫。她不想让高满堂娶康乃馨为妻。她生了一个叫高丽的女人。邓水喜悲痛欲绝。经过许多波折，邓水喜和康乃馨开始生活在同一个屋檐下。到处都是反对邓水喜的康乃馨。邓水喜一次又一次地耐心等待。随着日子一天天过去，两人的关系逐渐变得正常。20世纪60年代，香港经济腾飞，而拥有成功职业生涯的高满堂不想错过这个好机会。不管是绿色还是红色攫取了合法和非法的生意，它最终导致了灾难。后来，邓水喜带着家人开始了他们不屈不挠的斗争。她微笑着面对她在斗争中遇到的所有困难。
